PhD in Agribusiness and Managerial Economics

This PhD program is offered under the auspices of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Agribusiness.  Students with economics, agricultural economics, agribusiness, or business academic training are encouraged to apply. 

The PhD in Agribusiness and Managerial Economics was approved by the Higher Education Coordinating Board as of Fall 2008.  Students can request admission to the PhD in Agribusiness and Managerial Economics following completion of the AGEC Qualifier Examination.

This PhD program offers:

  • Strengths of applied economics with concentrations in business fields of finance, marketing, strategic management, or supply chain management (Click here for a chart of the structure of the PhD in Agribusiness and Managerial Economics program)
  • Field courses taken from both Mays Business School and Department of Agricultural Economics.
  • Ability to integrate analytical skills across economics and business disciplines.

Placement

Our PhD in Agribusiness and Managerial Economics graduates will be uniquely qualified to teach both the economics and business analysis of the food and agribusiness sector, or continue research in academic, government and consulting careers.
