Scholarships

The Department of Agricultural Economics offers several scholarships each year. Over $50,000 in scholarships are awarded at the annual Undergraduate Spring Reception in April to Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics majors.

These scholarships are funded through several different sources, including: (1) former students; (2) family and friends;  (3) former faculty; and (4) industry gifts.  Most contributions are made as an endowment, although in some instances, the scholarships are funded on an annual basis by the donor.

Students are encouraged to carefully review the requirements for each scholarship given the wide variation in criteria.  For example, in addition to the general GPR, financial need, and leadership requirements, some scholarships consider professional career interest, residency in a particular county in the state, and participation in Departmental clubs (Ag Econ Society, NAMA, and FIRE).  Students do not apply for a particular scholarship.  Students ranking the highest in the scholarship committee’s rankings will be matched with a scholarship that meets the criteria indicated in the student’s application. Take a look at the list of scholarships administered by this department.

The scholarship application can be found as a part of the university-wide scholarship application.
