Professional Summary
Dr. Peguero is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics, teaching at the Texas A&M Higher Education Center at McAllen, and doing research at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Weslaco.
Teaching activities include international trade and ag-commodities trading.
Research-wise, Felipe is interested in understanding the optimal pathways to transform food systems while improving climate resilience, economic benefits, and lowering Green House Gas emissions. Along that line, he is also interested in studying how can countries effectively operationalize climate finance instruments to support farmers and food industries in meeting adaptation and mitigation goals. Other research areas include the evaluation of the economic impact of emerging diseases and the identification of the most cost-effective control and prevention strategies for farmers.
Previous to Joining Texas A&M University, Felipe worked as a specialist in Ag-Economics and Climate Finance for the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center, providing technical backstopping to CATIE´s Development Projects across Latin America and the Caribbean.
