Agricultural Economics Honors Program

The Honors Program in the Department of Agricultural Economics offers an enhanced learning experience to qualified, academically-talented, and motivated students. In addition to developing at the professional level, students in the AGEC Honors Program have the opportunity to enrich their education through a scholastically-challenging curriculum and an inquiry-based learning process. Through participation in innovative co-curricular and leadership activities, you will have the opportunity to develop the problem-solving and critical thinking skills necessary for working in a global economy.

Agricultural Economics – Aggie REPS

Aggie REPS is a group of top-quality students who represent the Department of Agricultural Economics. These student representatives are trained on the correct procedure to represent the University and proper protocol for approaching high school students, counselors, and administrators. They present on behalf of the department and Texas A&M University to stakeholders and the local community. Students are selected as members of this elite group because of their leadership skills, presentation capabilities, commitment to the Aggie way of life, in addition to high academic success.

Agricultural Economics Society

The Agricultural Economics Society is a student organization that is not defined by a unique specialization. Agricultural Economics Society is an organization that embodies Agricultural Economics in its entirety. As the representative of the National Agricultural and Applied Economics Association (AAEA), Agricultural Economics Society has evolved to be a dynamic, active and all-inclusive student organization in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University.

Financial Planning Student Association

The Financial Planning Student Association provides current students, who are pursuing a financial planning career, an opportunity to continue their learning outside of the classroom through guest speakers, attendance at special events and participation in national competitions. In the future, the Financial Planning Student Association hopes to provide free financial resources and counseling for the general student population.

National Agri-Marketing Association

The Texas A&M University NAMA organization is an accredited student chapter of the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA), an organization of professionals involved in marketing, sales, advertising, and public relations associated with agribusiness and our nation’s food and fiber industry. The student members learn firsthand from industry professionals the various career opportunities available in agribusiness.

Professional Sales Student Association

The Professional Sales Student Association is to provide career and professional growth opportunities for those interested in sales. We are focused on developing qualified sales professionals that are easily recruited by reputable firms upon graduation. Our emphasis on professional development, proper networking practices, and creating mentorships with industry professionals will produce a lasting impact on students as they build their career.

Society of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate

The Society of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate Organization aim to introduce students to career opportunities in the fields of finance, insurance, and real estate and related areas such as law, banking, and energy. We encourage our members to build professional relationships and network with industry professionals and employers.

Agricultural Economics Graduate Student Association

The Graduate Student Association (GSA) fosters academic, professional, and social connections among students and faculty. Graduate students are invited to engage in a variety of professional, service, and social events held year-round. Members contribute to committees that influence the department and university. Additionally, the GSA provides competitive travel scholarships and grants to support students attending professional meetings and conferences.

Attend SKYP Lunches

SKYP (Students Know Your Professor) lunches are a way for our students and faculty to interact outside the classroom. Students and faculty are invited to eat a complimentary lunch and hear from sponsors who send representatives to talk about job and internship opportunities. The casual atmosphere allows both students and faculty a forum for discussion in a stress-free environment.
