Professional Summary
Yuanhang Wang is a Ph.D. candidate in Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University, specializing in international development. His research interests include migration, conflict, climate change, and poverty. He holds a Master in Economics from Texas A&M University, and a B.A. in Economics from Rutgers University – New Brunswick.
His dissertation research explores the effect of social support, weather shocks, and remittances on rural livelihoods. In his first chapter, he examines whether and how remittances sent by migrant members affect the perceived security of left-behind members in Kyrgyzstan. In the second chapter, he investigates the association between help-seeking behavior of women and children and development outcomes in Uganda using panel fixed effects approach, with plans to submit this paper to World Development. In the third chapter, he studies the interrelationships between weather shocks and crop choice in Uganda. He is also working on another paper with Dr. Kafle and co-authors, investigating the impacts of weather shocks on short-term migration in Uganda.
