Walker Lenamon '25

Walker is a legacy Aggie majoring in Agricultural Economics with a focus on rural entrepreneurship. He is not just studying business; he is actively building one. Levi Construction, based out of his hometown of Spicewood, Texas, is the center of Walker’s AGEC 425 project as an actively operating business owned by him and his brother.

From Dirt Bikes to Construction Sites

Walker grew up loving cars and dirt bikes. As a teenager, he picked up photography and turned it into more than a hobby. He learned to create advertisements, which sparked an interest in marketing. He thought about making that passion a career when he started college, but everything shifted in 2022 when he and his brother started their own construction business.

After working in kitchens, metal fabrication, and waste management, Walker knew he wanted to be his own boss. The brothers bought equipment and started taking small construction jobs. Walker’s brother now runs Levi Construction full-time at home. Walker handles finances and helps secure new jobs from College Station.

Turning Experience into a Classroom Advantage

Walker’s AGEC 425 project covers three enterprises: welding and fabrication, concrete, and excavation and site work. The various stages of the project have opened his eyes to everything that should go into starting a business. “I wish I had all this knowledge when we were starting this business,” Walker says. The program taught him how to manage time, structure ideas, and always have a backup plan.

Family, Mentors, and Lifelong Lessons

Walker finds inspiration in both his family and the mentors he has met through the program. His dad built a career in construction and offers invaluable guidance, even though he never owned his own business. The program’s mentorship network connected Walker with business owners 10 to 20 years ahead of him. Seeing their journeys provides a clear example of what he hopes to achieve.

One of Walker’s favorite program events was hearing Phil Livengood, founder of Small Farm Innovations, share his story of building a business from scratch in his Prof-for-a-Day presentation. Phil Livengood’s honesty about his struggles and successes resonated with Walker, reinforcing the reality that entrepreneurship requires adaptability and resilience.

Shaping the Future One Project at a Time

Walker credits Texas A&M with helping him gain maturity and independence. He is balancing college life and managing a growing business. His journey shows what passion and determination can achieve. He is learning business not just from textbooks but from real-world experience. With each class, project, and job, Walker is building a future that combines his entrepreneurial drive with the knowledge and connections he has gained at Texas A&M.
