Howdy and Welcome!
I’m glad you’re here. Whether you’re exploring majors, considering graduate school, looking for research-based insight, or searching for a partner in Extension and service, welcome to the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University.
We’re a land-grant department, which means our work is built to be useful. We teach students how to apply economic thinking to real decisions, conduct research that informs markets and policy, and share practical, science-based knowledge with the people and industries we serve across Texas and beyond.
Why AGEC
What sets our department apart is the way we connect strong analytical training with real-world application. Students develop skills in areas such as agribusiness, marketing, finance, financial planning, policy analysis, and natural resource economics while working closely with faculty who are active scholars and engaged with industry and government. Our programs are designed to help students develop into capable analysts, business professionals, and thoughtful decision-makers, prepared to lead in complex, evolving food, agricultural, and resource systems and markets.
Looking Ahead
As department head, my focus is on expanding experiential learning, strengthening industry and community partnerships, and advancing research and Extension that support resilient and innovative markets and food systems.
I invite you to explore our Degrees and Programs page and connect with us through Contact Us. We’d love to learn more about your interests and how AGEC can support your goals.
Thanks and Gig ’em!
