Agricultural Economics Graduate Student Association (GSA)

Our Graduate Student Association (GSA) in the Agricultural Economics Department is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community where graduate students can thrive both professionally and socially. We aim to create opportunities for networking, skill-building, and collaboration, helping students excel in their academic and professional pursuits. Apply to be a Buddy for the 2025 Fall Semester!

Register to be a Fall 2025 Buddy for incoming Master and PhD students into our department! The goal of this system is to connect new students with current students before they get to Texas A&M to allow them a person to ask questions to. These questions would include but not be limited to general moving to College Station questions/tips and general new student questions at Texas A&M. 

For the buddy system to work, we need both Master and PhD students to volunteer! If you are interested in helping your future peers please fill out the indicator below and we will be reaching out!

February Cultural Presentation

2025 Graduate Research Symposium

The Texas A&M Agricultural Economics Department, in collaboration with the department’s Graduate Student Association (GSA), successfully hosted its Spring Graduate Symposium! The event featured 12 presenters showcasing a wide range of research topics in a conference-style setting receiving feedback from faculty and peers. Congratulations to our top three presenters: Nawon Kang (1st place), Arsène J. Agossadou (2nd place), and Youan Qian (3rd place)! Thank you to everyone who attended, presented, and helped make the symposium a success. We look forward to seeing you at future events!

GSA Christmas Potluck

Students and faculty enjoyed delicious food and engaged in fun games for this years Christmas social.

GSA Friendsgiving Social

GSA hosted a Thanksgiving gathering were students and faculty shared festive treats and took time to reflect on individuals in the department they are most thankful for.

Travel Grant Funds

Masters and PhD students can receive the up to the following levels of funding for travel expenses if they are presenting research or a paper. 

  • Tier 1: $400 (Base)
  • Tier 2: $500 (Out-of-state travel)
  • Tier 3: $600 (International travel)

If you’re interested in getting financial support for your travel expenses, now’s the time to apply. Please reach out to Laura Jimenez for the application form and assistance in moving forward, [email protected]. And be sure to participate in GSA activities to qualify for this funding!
