Mengqiao Liu is a PhD candidate in Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University. Prior to joining TAMU, she received a BS degree in Finance from the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, China. Mengqiao’s advisor is Yu (Yvette) Zhang. In the first essay of her dissertation, Mengqiao study college graduates’ job location choices under talent policies in China. She finds that the influences of talent policies are relatively minor than other socio-economic factors and geographic factors. Mengqiao’s second essay focuses on the safe-haven and hedging effectiveness of Shanghai Gold for Chinese overseas investors. In her third essay, Mengqiao studied sellers’ choices between auctions and fixed price listings, using a model of coexistence of an auction with a buyout option and posted-price sales”
