Research and Extension
As part of our land-grant mission, the Department of Agricultural Economics is member of Texas A&M AgriLife, serving the state through research, Extension and outreach. Our research scientists and Extension experts are committed to developing economic solutions and disseminating resources to help engage Texans and global stakeholders, such as producers, agricultural organizations, policymakers and agribusinesses. Through the pursuit of learning, leadership, diversity, professional development, and excellence our faculty provide premiere thought leadership and economic analysis to guide decision making involving agribusinesses, natural resources, and communities.
Current Initiatives
As a founding pillar of Texas’s land-grant university, our department continues to innovate, teach future leaders and support stakeholders across the state. We collaborate with various state agencies, universities, government organizations and industry groups around the world to develop and disseminate impactful research and Extension programs.
Developing Economic Solutions through Research
Our economists and research scientists conduct research relating to resource and environmental impacts, marketing and transportation, production economics and risk management, public policy analysis and agricultural finance.
Serving Texas Economies and Communities
Our Extension Economics unit strives to lead, both nationally and regionally, in the development and delivery of innovative education and applied research programs. We aim to share information relevant to commercial agriculture that meet the needs of our stakeholders to help them make more informed decisions relating to economics and policy.
